DMK’s mouthpiece, Murasoli, has published an editorial in which they cautioned and borderline threatened Harihara Desigar Gnanasambandar, the head of the Madurai Adheenam, the oldest Saivite mutt in south India.

The article claimed that a curse had fallen upon the Madurai Adhinam. It said the curse was the reason the previous head of the mutt had acted in a precarious manner, making Nithyananda, a wanted criminal, as the head.

The article also mentioned that the previous head had allegedly taken money and even campaigned for Jayalalitha in Kanyakumari and had claimed that Jayalalitha’s horoscope assured that she would become the PM.

The article then stated that the present head, Harihara Desigar, was trying to threaten by using the names of Amit Shah and PM Modi. The article cautioned him to think about what happened to Sankarachariyar and Vijayendirar during Jayalalitha’s rule.

“Even Presidents and PMs used to wait to see Jayendhirar. But remember what happened to him and Vijayendirar during Jayalalitha's rule?”, asked Murasoli.

“Not just arresting Vijayendirar, but efforts were made to tarnish their names,” stated the article, which also said that when several other mutts and their heads were functioning peacefully, why such issues arose from Madurai alone.

“Madurai Adheenam should remember that, be it anyone who causes harm to public peace or indulges in criminal activities, the law will take its course,” stated that article.

The article ended by stating, “Harihara Desigar should also think about BJP leader H Raja’s words, ‘Stalin is more dangerous than Karunanidhi’, which carry much more hidden meanings.”
