PUNE: The Kondhwa police on Sunday arrested a 40-year-old delivery boy of an online food aggregator on the charge of molesting a 19-year-old girl engineering student of a city based college on the pretext of delivering food parcel at her residence around 9.30pm on September 17.
Sub inspector Sachin Khetmalis on Monday said, “The student had used the food aggregator’s application for placing an order for dinner from an eatery in Kondhwa area around 9pm.
The delivery boy delivered the parcel to her place on the fifth floor of a building and requested her to offer water for quenching his thirst.”
Khetmalis said, “The suspect after consuming water caught hold of the girl’s hands forcibly. He then touched her inappropriately and tried to flee after the girl raised an alarm. The building residents caught hold of the suspect and handed him over to police. The terrified girl reported the matter to her landlord who in turn contacted the police.”
“The girl later visited the police station and registered an FIR under sections 354 (outraging modesty of a woman) and 354 (a) (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code. A chargesheet against him will be filed on completion of investigation,” he added.
The delivery partner told TOI that the suspect is not associated with our platform.
