Kozhikode (Ker), Sept 24 (PTI) Four migrant labourers were arrested on Saturday for allegedly raping a minor girl and abandoning her near railway tracks in this district.

According to police sources, the 16-year-old girl, a native of Uttar Pradesh, got acquainted with the accused during a train journey.

She was on her way from Varanasi to Chennai, to meet her sister.

However, the accused allegedly enticed the girl and forced her to continue her journey without allowing her to alight at her destination, they said.

Later, the accused got down at Palakkad station and proceeded to Kozhikode by road.

She was then taken to a lodge in Palayam, where she was allegedly raped by the four. She was then brought to the railway station and was abandoned near the tracks, sources added.

Police said the accused also hailed from Uttar Pradesh.

A case has been registered among other offences, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and investigation is underway. PTI CORR LGK ROH ROH
