Amaravati: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday accused the ruling YSRCP of painting party colours over the images of Gods and Goddesses in Tirupati.
Before calling it a "targeted act" of insulting Hinduism, he claimed devotees are seething with anger after the images were replaced.
Taking to his official Twitter handle, Naidu shared a collage showing before and after images of SV University Road in Tirupati. One picture showed images of deities on a wall and another showed YSRCP's colours.
"Shocked to see images of Hindu Gods & Goddesses in the temple town of #Tirupati being replaced with party colours of ruling YSR Congress Party. Devotees are seething with anger over these targeted acts of insulting Hinduism," he tweeted.
Some other TDP leaders had also pointed out the removal of wall paintings depicting the 'Itihasas' near West Church Road by YSRCP colours ahead of CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's visit to the holy city.
Yesterday, police arrested several TDP leaders including former MLA M Sugunamma for staging protests against a huge number of flexes all along the route in which the Andhra Pradesh CM would proceed to Tirumala.
TDP leaders led by Sugunamma strongly objected to the way in which hundreds of flexes were set up in the name of YSRCP leaders, especially deputy mayor Bhumana Abhinay Reddy.
