Palakkad: In a shocking incident, a twenty-five-year-old man from Palakkad, Sujith, was forcibly converted to Islam through love jihad. However, he escaped from the clutches of religious fundamentalists while they were trying to send him to a foreign country.
Sujith had gone to Manjeri in Malappuram district to work in a textile shop. While working there, he was seduced by Fazila and he fell for her. Fazila approached him in a sexual manner and invited him to her hostel room where they got intimate.
Following this, Fazila asked Sujith to convert to Islam and marry her. She also threatened him that if he did not convert from Hinduism and marry her, she would commit suicide and blame him in her suicide note.
Later, she took Sujith to another person saying that he is her brother. Then religious fundamentalists forced him to resign from his job at the textile shop and took him to an institution called Sathya Sarani in Manjeri. For three months he was given intoxicants at the institution and was also circumcised forcibly there.
They also conducted their marriage at the religious center. Sujith says that at the religious center, there were around thirty men and around sixty-five women, including pregnant women.
After his classes at Sathya Sarani, Sujith’s name was changed to Muhammad Ramzan. His name in the Aadhar card was also changed. They also said that a job was arranged for him in a Gulf country and a passport was taken in his name.
In the meantime, the Sujith’s family approached Manjeri police station with a complaint saying that he is missing. The religious fundamentalists, realizing this, quickly transferred Sujith and the woman to another religious study center called Safe Home in the town of Muvattupuzha.
At Safe Home, Sujith was given religious classes together with intoxicants and classes against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
However, when Sujith demanded that he wanted to return to Malappuram, he was taken there and given a job in a godown. They also insisted that he attend another religious class. When he refused to attend the religious classes, he was beaten up by the woman, her mother and other religious fundamentalists.
Sujith finally escaped from the clutches of the religious fundamentalists after hoodwinking them and reached his home at Palakkad. However, he is still receiving threatening calls.
He has registered a complaint at the Meenakshipuram police station.
